The History of Ledger Systems
Ledger Systems was started in November 1985 when William and Dion Botma (father and son team) bought out Zylstra & Son (Pty) Ltd.
Zylstra & Son was founded in 1927 by Answar Zylstra, who had immigrated from Friesland in the Netherlands in the early 1900’s. Answar Zylstra was on old-school craftsman book binder. Their primary business was bookbinding and the manufacturing of the old loose leaf accounting systems.
Once William and Dion took over Zylstra & Son, they saw the potential of using existing craft bookbinders to start manufacturing exclusive corporate leather stationery.
The FALCON brand already existed, having been registered in 1964. It was thus an easy decision to launch their new stationery lines under this brand. Today, this FALCON is recognized as the ‘Rolls Royce” of brands in the corporate stationery world, synonymous with quality and exclusivity.
Over the years Ledger Systems has continued to grow, expanding their range of stationery products, bookbinding services and Digital printing services to keep up with the changing times.

We Are Family
Ledger Systems prides itself on the quality of our staff. Being a family orientated business, staff are also seen and treated as extended family. We are proud of the employment history of our current staff, with our longest serving members having close on 30 years of uninterrupted service, and the majority, more than 10 years of service.
Training
All our current staff started either as cleaners, factory aids or kitchen assistants, working themselves up through the ranks, by means of in-house and external training. Our current works manager, Mr. Timothy Mvelase, has 29 years of service. Considering that he was forced to leave school at the age of 14 years (with almost no education to speak of), to look after his family, this is quite an achievement that we are all proud of.
A Brand Above The Rest
The Falcon brand has always been recognised as the “Rolls Royce” of brands in the corporate stationery world, synonymous with quality and exclusivity. Our “Falcon” was originally registered in 1964. Ledger Systems ensures that this exclusive brand remains protected from copied and pirated products, with the help of Fasken Martineau International Attorneys.

What Our Clients Say
Our company approached Ledger Systems and requested them to design and produce a unique and high quality series of large format workbooks, leather branding signs and swatch holders for our textile products.
